So to my great surprise last night, I scrolled down my Twitter notifications and spotted that I had been nominated by @TIOTWstacey for a Sunshine Blogger Award. Thanks a lot first of all for the nomination, I’m honoured considering your blog is absolutely FULL of great content about food, fitness and lots more! Such an interesting read so definitely check it out if you don’t already follow (find it here).
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
A very interesting question at this point in time, also hard – why did it have to be first?! So in a dream world, probably owning my own gluten free restaurant because food is my overall passion and always has been. I would also LOVE designing my own menu, interiors and just having complete autonomy over something I feel very strongly about, being a Coeliac myself. On a more realistic note, (I think?!) I’m enjoying my blogging and social media side of things with running My Gluten Free Life UK that I would love for it to be my job in an ideal world – it already fits in so perfectly with my lifestyle and interests, I just love it! I’m actually considering an expansion of my blog to include more personal posts about my health and problems faced with having Coeliac Disease to provide even more information for my followers/future followers. How does this sound?
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What would you rather have for your breakfast – digestives and a tea, avocado on toast, pancakes or other (please elaborate)?
Breakfast is the one meal of the day that I never used to get excited about, I used to skip it during teenager days and never saw interest in the foods suitable for it. However, recently, I found such delicious recipes and ways of creating breakfast combinations I’d never thought of before. I’ve realised in recent years just how important it really is! Digestives and a tea is lovely for a mid-morning/afternoon snack but doesn’t quite cut it for me these days, so would have to be avocado on toast out of those options. Can I tweak it slightly and make the yummy baked eggs in avocados I’ve made before?
What do you look for in a Vlog or Blog?
Good quality photos, eye-grabbing logos/banners linked specifically to the person/brand, recipes, tips and new gluten free finds, advice on a wide variety of matters. Anything really, nothing in particular – not just gluten free either! I like all kinds of blogs.
Where would your ideal holiday destination be and why?
The Maldives for the luxury side of things but I’m hoping to go for my honeymoon in the future if we’re financially stable enough to! But if I had to have a serious think, probably somewhere tropical but also adventurous – Thailand? If it wasn’t so tourist-y now! Fiji, Brazil, Mexico, somewhere hot. Purely because I love a good old dose of Vitamin D. But Mexico because my best friend is from there and I’d love to see her town, take in the culture and go and see some Mayan temples/ruins whilst I’m at it as it’s an interest of mine. And the food, don’t forget the food!
Look at the Maldives, Fiji and Mexico. I mean… Isn’t that the dream?!
If you could see any artist live tomorrow night, who would it be?
Red Hot Chili Peppers for every reason! I’ve seen A LOT of artists live ranging from Bonobo to Ed Sheeran to Foo Fighters etc. But they are one band I’ve never been able to catch live.
What is your favourite city and what would you recommend to do there?
Kiruna in Swedish Lapland was probably the most magical holiday yet with seeing the Northern Lights, as well as driving our own team of huskies! If you haven’t already, check out my blog post all about the food adventures whilst in Sweden.
What is your idea of a perfect weekend?
The perfect weekend would have to consist of:
Friday evening – Going out for dinner and then a cocktail bar with a friend/friends, followed by staying at my boyfriend’s house
Saturday – A yummy brunch, a fun Shoreditch day out or exploring somewhere new (finding new gluten free places/pubs etc) followed by a gig in the evening or chilling and watching a good film
Sunday – A dinner that isn’t a roast (I know, I’m weird, they’re probably one of my least fave dinners!), full relaxation at a spa or a cat cafe.
(This isn’t a typical weekend, note that it says perfect but I’ve made it realistic hehe)
What is the last song that you listened to?
My iTunes is currently on shuffle so… Crystalised by the XX.
Who inspires you the most and why?
100% without a doubt my nana. She inspires me mainly due to the fact that she worked her way up to the top throughout her career, but she is my rock. Always there when I need her, my best friend, tell her everything! She’s so supportive of me and believes I can achieve anything if I put my mind to it. No matter what problem life throws at her, she always has a positive answer/solution and she just tries to be as happy as can be!
What is the overall experience you want readers to get from your blog?
Overall, I just want it to be able to help other Coeliacs or people following a gluten free diet, but also to be a foodie blog for others too. It might be the smallest thing such as reviewing one product that they then try and are hooked forever! I want to build up a lovely community of people who are supportive which is happening so far and I’m loving being part of it. I also have lots of visions for my blog and where I’d like it to go in the future!
If you could have a post go viral tomorrow, which of your current blog posts would you choose? Explain you choice.
Either my very first blog post entailing my own recipe of oven-baked chorizo and vegetables (find it here) which is simply delicious, I made it once at my nan’s and felt honoured as she now makes it every few weeks she loves it so much!
Or, my restaurant review of Niche restaurant in London (find it here) because I do honestly believe it’s one of the best 100% gluten free places out there, it’s not just gluten free food either, they cater for all sorts of allergens.
