It’s that time again to share with you all my favourite gluten free finds of the month! I’m going to be a bit rebellious and start with products to switch things up a little…
Amy’s Kitchen Bean and Cheese Burrito
After posting this on Instagram earlier in July, I had one or two people comment saying they didn’t like it or it fell apart whilst microwaving it (as shown in the photo below). I’ve never tried cooking it in the oven due to using this for a speedy choice, but if you have tried this before, or give it a go soon, comment below or message me to let me know what the results were! I guess it’s a matter of opinion but I LOVE it for a quick and easy lunch, it pairs perfectly with a simple salad too to make it a healthier option! It’s super cheesy and not only gluten free, but suitable for vegetarians too.
Interested in trying it out? Find it here online at Ocado for just £1 at the moment (half the usual price).
Candy Kittens and Pukka Mint Matcha Green Tea
I’ve been a fan of Candy Kittens sweets since day one (confession: I’m a massive Made in Chelsea fan so pretty much only tried them because it’s Jamie Laing’s brand). But in recent times, they’ve changed their recipe to be suitable for vegans, as well as being gluten free of course! The texture is slightly softer and less chewy – but everything else still the same. I tried out this Blueberry Bliss flavour and it was great! My favourite flavours are Wild Strawberry and Sour Watermelon so far.
Themptation Organic Pesto and Shelled Hemp Seeds
These hemp goodies from Cornwall are all gluten free, vegan and raw – the pesto is even nut free! I made a delicious salad for one of my lunches with some of the Tomato & Rocket pesto and hemp seeds sprinkled on top. Along with some fresh spinach leaves, tomato, cheese and saucisson sec. Simply perfect, especially in this beautiful weather we’ve been having!
Did you know some of the mind-blowing health benefits of hemp? Hemp seed oil has been used as a food/medicine in China for at least 3,000 years and contains tonnes of vitamin E, potassium, zinc, calcium, magnesium and lots more. All of this goodness leads to reduction of heart disease rates and can help cure multiple skin disorders!
Cracked Black Pepper Cheddar Slices and Vintage Cheddar Beef Steak Burgers, Lidl
Never quite realised how fabulous Lidl was for finding unique items that you can’t find in other supermarkets! Tend to pop into my boyfriend’s local one here and there, and found these two absolute treats. If you adore cheese like myself, you’ll LOVE these:
Perfect for the BBQ season!
BFree Stone Baked Pitta Breads
Won these in an Instagram prize recently. Hadn’t eaten pitta breads since being diagnosed with Coeliac Disease back in 2015, so you can imagine my excitement when these were in the package!
JUST LOOK AT THEM. Served with some tasty Sour Cream and Chive Hummus Chips by Eat Real Snacks.
Address: 23 The Broadway, Sutton SM3 8BH (multiple locations around UK)
One word, or maybe four. CHEESY GARLIC PIZZA BREAD.
The lovely people at Wildwood made this especially for me. As well as adapting any pasta dishes to include gluten free penne – so of course I had to choose my favourite; Carbonara. Even better when it’s cooked Al Forno (baked in the oven)!
Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel, Corfu
Missing breakfasts of dreams like this on holiday! Went in the middle of July and it was just fantastic.
Address: 1B Russell Rd, Wimbledon, London SW19 1QN (multiple UK locations)
Everyone’s heard of a cheeky Nando’s, right? But have you heard how knowledgeable the restaurant is about gluten allergies and intolerances? They literally are up there with 100% gluten free restaurants nearly. Having the most detailed allergen guide I’ve pretty much ever seen, as well as the manager speaking to all cooking staff to make sure cross-contamination procedures are in place.
What’s even better is that the Perinaise is now GLUTEN FREE. Such a good dip (basically says it in the name, mayonnaise with some peri-peri) – perfect with the chips.
Thank you for taking the time to read my favourites for this month. I do hope you find something new to try out – if you do, let me know what you thought!
Until next time,
